All year there’s a lot to interest children and grown-ups on the Isle of Thanet (Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate) but especially in the summer

You could check out the list with comments on tripadvisor:

Obviously miles and miles of sandy beaches which are free!  Cliftop walks, etc… as are the free concerts that take place at many of our Bandstands;

  • Shell Grotto, Margate
  • The Micro Museum of computers in Ramsgate Open Thurs, Fri & Sat afternoon 1- 4pm through the summer holiday. Aim to arrive by 3pm at the latest as you can easily spend over an hour here.
  • Ramsgate Tunnels for war time history of Ramsgate – book your tour in advance.

Swimming Pool – Your Leisure: 2015 Tides at Deal have introduced advanced online booking for Tuesdays.

There is free swimming for a chlld with paying adult 1-3.30 Wed & Fri at Ramsgate, or Tue & Thurs in Margate. There is also a Free outdoor paddling pool at Deal and an outdoor pool at Faversham.

Real golf is a favourite pass time of Mr T.P. At Westbrook there is excellent minigolf. we plan to visit the new Dinosaur Adventure Golf at Manston this summer. Mr TP and the children are sometimes to be found at and at Stonelees.

For those of us from the west of the U.K., Windmills are a curious feature of this part of the world: eg. Margate’s Drapers Mill and Sarre Windmill.

At present we have plenty of Cinemas to choose from, will this last? I would urge cinema goes to support the local independent cinemas.

Many people in other parts of the country are jealous that our local cinema (the Granville in Ramsgate) is just £4 per seat and with cheap sweets. Use it or lose it.

When you feel you have to then 3D films are screened at the newest, the Westwood Cross Vue at the heat of the island which also has excellent value for money for parents with cheap kids films at about £2, each morning, advanced booking advisable.

There are great cinemas in

Anything happening in the very busy Minster village will be here:

 I check on tides here:

More interesting information about Ramsgate:

There are lots of regular walking tours through the summer months.

St Peter’s Village Tours info is here:

THANET THEATRE We are also blesssed with lots of theatres and amatuer theatre and operatic groups… here are a list of venues but there are more:

  • UKIP in Thanet District Council promise to reopen Manston Airport
or at least they did before the election. It almost sounded too easy. Well, it’s too early to comment on progress but it it not looking so easy.     Advertisements
  • Thanet District Council tackle Dog Poo
I’m sure the overwhelming majority of residents will be pleased if UKIP can get on top of the dog poo problem. There is no easy solution as councils around the country have tried to tackle this with the Keep Britain Tidy campaign for at least 30 years (that I know of). One council tried Doggie Loos […]
  • We have a UKIP Thanet District Council but a Conservative MP
For those who enjoy the maths behind the headlines or have been enjoying #thanetrigged I can share with you this extract from a much larger spreadsheet of results. In the South Thanet parliamentary constituency there are two wards that are part of Dover District Council (by the way Dover are responsible for elections in that […]
