This weekend I watched my first ever boxing match AND not only that, but I travelled to Epsom to see those fighting men battle it out live in the flesh. I know nothing about boxing but I analysed what was going on and can share my conclusions.
To determine the winner of each match I scored the men on their entrance music and the man with the most exciting shorts. The judges must have used the same scoring method as every prediction I made was accurate!
What was most exciting was that all the local Thanet boxers won. Which was great for the 100+ supporters who travelled from Thanet and for O’Neils’ Gym in Margate, where they all train.
So the local boxers who took part in “Night of the Champions”, all winners, were:
Alan Wilks (great shorts), Steve Little (great tatoos), Anthony Hill (with RIP DAD on his shorts, after the recent and sudden death of his father, Tony Hill), Aaron Lowery, and Sammy Holloway.
Yes I am saying there is something about O’Neils Boxing Gym or about Margate and Ramsgate, I can’t explain why, but they produce boxers with particularly bright and shiny shorts…..a winning formula.
I must also mention Mark Houlden, I can’t remember where he was from but he came out to star wars music, he was bound to win the The Power of the Force on his side.
Mr TP and I had a really great night out, it was interesting, entertaining and I had too much to drink. But I can’t imagine I would watch boxing ever again. Sequin shorts good and the punches bad. The bloody faces really not good.
