Diesel in my Petrol Car ~ Mr Tara Plumbing’s expensive mistake

He thought he’d do me a favour by filling up.  His excuse is that he is used to fuelling his diesel van and he is so over excited thinking about the football this afternoon that he did the very stupid thing, something he never thought he’d do.

At least he realised whilst holding the nozzle.  Only £20 of the incredibly expensive vehicle moving fuel had hit the empty car tank (it can take £70 worth and it was as empty as can be).

He realised in time to not turn on the engine and drive! I.e. in time to not do more damage than necessary.

How Much Will It Cost to Take Diesel Out of my Petrol Car?

A quick call to the AA revealed they would charge us £180 to sort the problem but a local garage said they will help us for less than half that price.  Perhaps about £50.

Thanks Martin Motors & Commercial Services at Manston, Thanet tel: 826161.

Mr TP and his nephew both had sleepless nights last night.  They are so excited about the Champion’s League Final at Wembley Stadium today being Manchester United Fans.

I can’t understand it not being into football.  And anyway, aren’t MU always in this Cup Final?

Ramsgate, Broadstairs & Margate’s Best Heating Installers!

Ogling workmen is surely as harmless as simply looking at a bar of chocolate. So I am disappointed England are out of the World Cup.

No more Ramsgate based, Tara Plumbing football parties, where some of the sexiest , heating engineers and other tradesmen all assemble at a Thanet location to gaze at that screen.

Where chocolate is concerned I can take it to bed and let it melt all over my body with no effect on the diet, just dirty sheets to wash. Same soiled laundry and 0 calories involved in taking the tradesmen to bed… I am guessing.

Heating Engineers of Thanet know the score!

“Did you want to know the score?” Asked one of the guests at our World Cup Football Party: the biggest gathering in Thanet of plumbers, heating engineers and allied construction workers.

He knows I have as much interest in football as I have in ironing. If we own an iron I don’t know how it works or where it is kept. I have seen a dusty ironing board behind the wardrobe in the spare bedroom.

Apparently it was one all.  What does that mean, is it good? Will England have to travel to the USA for a rematch?

Tara Plumbing Garden Party watching England v USA

I recently told you, in a previous blog, that we had a temporary roof put on our garden to cover us for any kind of weather, see photo below.  Roof provided by Ramsgate Scaffold at a remarkably good price!  The party was a great success despite almost 80 people queuing to use our downstairs loo.One of the advantages of living with a plumber is that we do have an excessive number of taps in the garden. 5 at the last count! One of them even delivers hot water straight from the boiler to an outside sink.  Very useful for cleaning up after the party. But, obviously what we do need is an outside loo if we are going to entertain so many people ever again.

By the way, we did have USA flags flying too, but the wind folded the biggest one right up on to the the roof.

I’m sure our neighbours will be bemused to discover that we like the temporary roof so much that we are going to investigate covering part of the garden with a structure which is more permanent and asthetically pleasing.

Tara Plumbing World Cup Garden Party, the biggest party in Ramsgate!

If you are planning a garden party in England in June how do you prepare for the unpredictable British weather?

Many people might be either hiring a marquee or investing in a few pop-up gazebos. If you work in the construction industry, however, then you might think scaffolding. This was Mr TP’s idea, not mine. But now it is erected in our back garden I love it!

It gives a nice level of shade and the corrugated roof is water tight. In fact, I wouldn’t mind keeping it up all year, painting it groovy bright colours. I wonder what the planning regulations would be… I expect I will find out soon enough, it is bound to be a matter of days before one or other of the neighbours complains to Thanet District Council with concerns that we might be constructing something illegal.

Mr TP thinks we should tell people that the is an archaeological or palaeontological dig going on after we discovered dinosaur bones or medieval artefacts. Take your pick!

If you do happen to be a concerned neighbour, here in Ramsgate. Fear not, the party will end by midnight, noise will be reduced after 10 and 11pm and much as I love it, unfortunately, Ramsgate Scaffolding are wanting all their tubes, poles and metal bits and bobs back in the near future.

FA cup Final

Even though Mr Tara Plumbing’s team did not win on Saturday, he still reported a great day out, to the new Wembley Stadium.

Leaving Ramsgate at just after 7am he was on the first train into the Stadium Station, at something after 10 am.  With his father, they reported enjoying the pre-match build-up in the Champagne Bar, before sitting in their ‘club Wembley’ seats for the 3pm kick-off.

I never saw him after breakfast that day, he returned home after midnight.

Am I a football widow?  No, I don’t think so.  Mr T.P. does not watch every match (although sometimes it seems like it!), and when football does have his attention then I have unusual hobbies and interests of my own to indulge in.  I’m sure their aren’t many women who asked for Euclid’s Elements for their 39th birthday! A maths book so old it predates Christianity by hundred of years.

“Euclid’s Elements is the most successful textbook ever written. It was one of the very first works to be printed after the printing press was invented, and is second only to the Bible in number of editions published.

“It was used as the basic text on geometry throughout the Western world for about 2,000 years. … was included in the curriculum of all university students, …Not until the 20th century did it cease to be considered something all educated people had read.”’s_Elements

I was a guest on HuffPost Live this week in a segment purporting to discuss the ins and out of workplace bathroom etiquette. I’m sure the overwhelming majority of residents will be pleased if UKIP can get on top of the dog poo problem.
