“The tooth fairy gave me 40 pounds.”
My son was very excited about loosing his first tooth at the weekend. £40 wow – no it was 40p.
My friend laughed and told me the tooth fairy in Ramsgate sounds a bit mean (it’s OK for her to say that – we’ve been friends for years).
I said there are a lot of teeth – I thought the rate should be 20p, Mr Tara Plumbing thought it should be 50p.
My friend has been giving £2, but I guess that includes an element for London weighting.

I read a horror story of a boy given $20 (about £10) for his tooth only to be found later that day pulling his teeth out with his dad’s pliers… eek!
Really it should depend upon the condition of the tooth. If it’s a perfect white tooth he should put it in an envelope with a note to the tooth fairy saying “Tooth for sale, 2001 model, one careful owner, good clean condition ……. Special price for one day only £5.00”.
On the other hand, if it’s a rotter….. the note should read “well used tooth for sale, condition reflected in asking price, 20p ono, sold as seen”
